About
I'm Christine Williams. I've spent my career making technical material readable for the people who have to act on it.
I started as a technical editor for Air Force and Army flight test programs, turning F-22, F-15, and F-16 test data into documentation military leadership could use. From there I wrote cybersecurity policy and ran a records management overhaul at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, then built accredited training for law enforcement agencies at Lexipol.
From 2020 to 2025 I was Lead Executive Editor at USDA's Economic Research Service, running a seven-person team through a full organizational transformation. Today I run content and stakeholder communications at TriWest Healthcare Alliance, a managed care contractor for the Defense Health Agency and VA.
Shockley Press is where I take on outside work. I've edited and ghostwritten independently since 2011, so running a business isn't new. What's changed is the focus: organizations that need the same rigor I bring to federal work.
My editing philosophy fits on a sticky note: say it plainly, check it twice, and don't make legal read it three times.
Writing your own novel or commercial nonfiction book? That's a separate practice: The Nonsense-Free Editor works with authors directly.
